Safe Manual Insert Loading Practices

Manual insert loading is common in vertical injection molding because operators often place metal inserts, cables, connectors, terminals, substrates, or other parts before molding. The work can be efficient only when it is also organized and safe.

This article focuses on workflow review and support records. It does not replace site training, guards, light curtains, or the machine manual.

Loading Area Review

Before production, review:

• Where the operator stands.
• Where inserts are staged before loading.
• Where finished parts are placed after removal.
• Whether tools are needed and where they are kept.
• Whether both hands and loose items can stay outside moving areas.
• Whether the fixture makes correct insert position clear.
• Whether the loading sequence is the same for every cycle.

If the operator must search for inserts, rotate parts awkwardly, or reach around obstacles, the loading workflow should be reviewed before production continues.

Cycle Timing and Human Work

Manual loading time is not just a number in the cycle. It is a human action that can vary by operator, insert type, part complexity, and fixture access. Support discussions should include how the loading step works in real production, not only the machine movement.

Record whether delays, alarms, or defects appear when:

• Loading takes longer than expected.
• Inserts are not seated consistently.
• Finished parts are difficult to remove.
• The operator changes hand position or loading order.
• The table, slide, or rotary position changes the access angle.

Evidence for Support

Send safe photos of the fixture, insert staging area, and finished part removal path. A short safe video may help if timing or hand movement is the concern. Do not record from inside guarded areas during active movement.
