Mold Changeover Preparation Checklist

Mold changeover is not only a mechanical task. It affects program selection, safety review, mold access, insert loading, first trial runs, and future troubleshooting records. Preparation helps the team avoid confusion when production restarts.

This page does not provide mold installation instructions. It is a planning checklist for operators, supervisors, and support communication.

Before Changeover

• Confirm the new mold number, product, material, insert or substrate requirements, and production target.
• Confirm the machine is in a safe state for trained personnel to begin changeover work.
• Clear the surrounding work area and prepare tools according to site procedure.
• Confirm mold dimensions, table layout, ejector or removal needs, and auxiliary equipment requirements.
• Identify the controller program that should be used after changeover.
• Review whether the job uses fixed platen, slide table, rotary table, or special fixture workflow.

First Run Preparation

Before the first automatic cycle, confirm the mold area, table movement, safety devices, controller program, material readiness, and insert loading workflow. If the mold has not run on the machine before, record first-cycle observations carefully.

What to Record

Record the old mold, new mold, program name, operator, setup time, any machine alarm, and whether the first parts showed short shot, flash, insert shift, sticking, or other defects.

When to Contact Deboge
