Emergency Stop Use and Reset Review

Emergency stop devices are part of the machine safety system and should be handled according to site procedure and the machine manual. A reset is not just a button action; it is a confirmation that the area is safe and the reason for the stop has been reviewed.

This note helps teams create a clear record when emergency stop use becomes part of a support request.

What to Record

When an emergency stop is used, record:

• Machine model and production line.
• Date, shift, and operator.
• Which emergency stop device was used, if known.
• Why it was used.
• What machine movement or production condition was happening at the time.
• Whether anyone inspected the guarded area before reset.
• Whether an alarm or controller message appeared.
• Whether the same issue repeated.

The record does not need to assign blame. It should explain the situation.

Before Reset

Before reset, the responsible person should confirm that the work area is safe, moving areas are clear, and the original reason for the stop has been addressed according to site procedure.

If the stop was caused by abnormal movement, trapped part, unclear operator position, robot cell condition, or hot surface concern, do not treat reset as a routine production step.

When to Contact Deboge

Contact Deboge when emergency stop use is repeated, connected with machine alarms, connected with unexpected movement, or connected with an unclear safety device condition. Send the reset record, controller screenshots, safe photos, and a short description of the cycle step.
